Gender equity is the process of being fair to women and men. To ensure fairness, strategies and measures must often be available to compensate for women’s historical and social disadvantages that prevent women and men from otherwise operating on a level playing field. Equity leads to equality. Gender equality requires equal enjoyment by women and men of socially-valued goods, opportunities, resources and rewards.
Our consultants have been involved in a range of research projects on gender equity and equality including studies to:
- examine the impact, costs and cost-effectiveness of gender-responsive interventions for HIV.
- develop a tool to assess gender-responsive of HIV and sexual and reproductive health services.
- develop an evidence-based framework for action, propose global societal enabler targets, and identify indicators for monitoring progress towards gender-equal societies.
